If you want to stay out: stroll through the historic center, discovering shops and views at your own pace, or take the car and reach some of our favorite places in less than an hour.
If you want to stay in: enjoy a long breakfast, tea in the living room, a break in your room, and enjoy the silence.
If you want to mix it up: take a short outing and then come back, without ever having to take the car.

Vespasia isn't about "forced abundance": it's a thoughtful, elegant sequence that leaves room for more.

OUR SUGGESTIONS

• Attend the Benedictine Vespers in Norcia, at the Abbey of San Benedetto in Monte (check times and availability with their staff or in the website)

• Visit the crypt of the Basilica of Saint Benedict, the place where Saint Benedict was baptized;
• Attend the Sunday Mass in Norcia at the Basilica, or the Benedictine Mass with the Gregorian rite at the Abbey.
• Take a silent hike: an easy one along the old Norcia-Spoleto railway line between the marshes of Norcia and the muddy river; a challenging one to reach the great cross of Monte Patino (1,880 m, 1,000 m elevation gain, starting from Forca di Ancarano).
• Climb to the rock of Santa Rita in Roccaporena: It's a fascinating spiritual and naturalistic trail, but physically demanding (120 m elevation gain, 320 steps).
• Visit the Eremo delle Carceri in Assisi, a convent built in the caves where Francis retreated to pray with his followers; and San Damiano, the place where Saint Francis wrote the Canticle of the Creatures.
